WELCOME TO MY VIRTUAL "MAIN STREET"

A lot has happened over the past year, prehaps the most important is the movement by the Daytona Beach City Council to "Down Size" Bike Week and Biketoberfest! Acording to the City Council all of the "Special Events" have gotten out of hand! Even the local newspaper, The News Journal is in favor of this Down sizing! Some of the concil members have bowed to a very small group of special intrest groups, developers and neighborhood associations to turn Daytona Beach into Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach. They keep saying that the special events don't portray a family image to potential vacationers! Well here is a news flash if you are planning a trip to Florida and you want a wholesome family atmosphere go to ORLANDO and Mickey Mouse world!!! You will find an entire city set up for what you are looking for! But if you want to go someplace to have a good time, good beach, lots of adult oriented activities and special events, I.E Bike Week, Biketoberfest, All of the races at Daytona International Speedway, Spring Break, Black College Reunion, Turkey Rod Run, off shore power boat racing, Boat Week and many more you need to schedule your vacation for Daytona Beach during one of these events.
The debate is so intense that it is even been rumored that some members of the council have "cooked" the books so that it appears that the City losses money during Bike Week & Biketoberfest! The biggest complaints semm to be traffic congestion, noise, lewd behavoir and revenue! All of which are managable without having to "downsize" the events. Now don't get me wrong, I am not in favor of a free for all....but I wonder about these folks who move or retire to an area without first doing some research! Bike Week and NASCAR have been a part of Daytona Beach for over 60 years! How can they say that these special events hurt their quality of life? If they really can't live with the special events they should move to a different town! If these people want to live in Boca Raton they should move there, not try to make Daytona into something that it will never be! As long as there are NASCAR races and motorcyles Daytona will remain somewhat the same. And I for one am very happy about that!

If you love Motorcycles, Motorcycle racing, Partying, The Beach & the BIKER BABES. If you have never been to BIKE WEEK or BIKETOBERFEST you really owe it to yourself to try to make it to the Daytona Beach area at least once during these events before you hang up your leathers for good.
You'll never regret or forget it!

It has come to my attention that many of you can not get the image map above to work. This is not your fault, and no it is not "broken"! It seems that if you are a client of some of the "BIG" Internet Service Providers (I won't Name Names), but I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. They don't support all this High Tech.
